Pleasant conditions are expected for a family friendly day out at Stony Creek racecourse on Tuesday January 3 with children and adults assured of an entertaining time at the Pink Roses Race Day.
Former jockey Chris Symons again brings his ‘Funky Farm’ to Stony Creek, with children able to enjoy seeing and interacting with a variety of animals.
A kids’ outdoor disco is also sure to keep young attendees occupied.
Kelly Sports is back with its selection of games and supervised activities that enable kids to compete with each other or against parents.
Face painting will be another popular option.
Children and adults can make a visual statement during the afternoon’s Bliss in Inverloch Fashions on the Field competitions.
People can register on the day from 12pm at the fashion headquarters located next to the members’ enclosure.
Judging gets underway at 1pm, with the Best Junior to be decided.
Other categories are Best Suited (2.10pm), Best Dressed (2.35pm) and Dress Local (3.05pm)
Rick Gauci will provide live music and there will be plenty of lunch options with food trucks onsite.
There’ll be eight races, all offering equal prizemoney and ranging in length from 1,000 metres to 2,100 metres.
Race 2 is the Pink Roses Maiden Plate, alluding to the focus of the day on which a special Pink Roses fundraising event is being held.
“The pink roses theme remembers women, in particular, who have lost their lives to cancer, and we’ll be having a luncheon in the dining room raising money for local health services,” Stony Creek Racing Club CEO Adam Olszanski said.
The luncheon includes course admission, racebook, entertainment, a two-course meal prepared by Brent Sinclair Catering and a drink on arrival.
It costs $85 for Stony Creek Racing Club members and $100 for others.
