Teams gather for successful Korumburra junior tournament

KORUMBURRA Basketball Association ran another successful junior tournament last weekend.

The annual tournament attracted 140 teams to the area – an increase on last year’s numbers – with around 1500 registrations.

Teams travelled from as far as Bairnsdale all the way through to Phillip Island.

The games were played across seven venues – the Korumburra Basketball Stadium, Korumburra Secondary College, the Bass Coast Community Stadium, the Meeniyan Basketball Stadium, Poowong

Basketball Stadium, the Warragul Leisure Centre Stadium and the Bellbird Park Indoor Centre in Drouin.

The tournament was completely run by volunteers over a massive two days.

Different age groups played across the two days, giving families a one-day format that was greatly appreciated.

“We’ve had a lot of positive feedback,” tournament director Jean Hill said.

“We’d like to thank everyone who helped us out. Thank you to all the volunteers, the people who let us use these venues, and our referees.”
