KORUMBURRA Wildcats proved successful at last month’s Eltham Dandenong Junior Basketball Tournament, winning boys and girls grand finals across multiple age groups.
The Wildcats girls and boys enjoyed success in the Under 14s action, with the Korumburra boys defeating one of Sandringham’s sides 58-45 in B3 competition, while the girls triumphed 54-36 over another Sandringham outfit in B1 action.
Zac Fowles led Korumburra’s scoring for the Under 14 boys grand final, registering 30 points with Karlroy Daming another strong contributor with 17 points.
Ruby Ogilvy topped the scoring for the triumphant Under 14 Wildcat girls with 20 points, while Abi Derham was named the game’s MVP and contributed six points.
Korumburra won the Under 12 girls decider in B3 competition, beating a Sandringham side 32-24.
Mylah Angwin led the way for the Wildcats as MVP and registered six points, while Jorge Chila topped the winning side’s scoring with 10 points.
As with the Under 14s,
Korumburra had two grand final triumphs at Under 10s level.
The boys took out the C3 grand final by nine points, while the girls claimed the C section 14-9 over Warragul.
Lenny Whelan was MVP for the Under 10 boys, while Evie Rodwell earned that honour for the girls.
