Anzac Day Services and events

Bass
Bass Valley Friends of the RSL invite all to attend the Anzac Day Dawn Service which will be held at the Bass cenotaph, Hade Avenue Bass, commencing at 6am, followed by a free gunfire breakfast at the Bass Community Hall, School Road, Bass on Thursday April 25 from 6am - 9am. 

Cowes 
Anzac Day Dawn Service held at 6am on the Esplanade, Cenotaph, Cowes for approx. 40 Minutes. 10.40am March from Olive Justice Place, Chapel Street, left into Thompson Avenue heading North, then a right hand turn into The Esplanade and halt adjacent to the Cenotaph followed at 11am by the Commemorative Service, Cowes Cenotaph, The Esplanade, Cowes.

Foster
An 11am service will be held at the cenotaph, with a brief address from Foster RSL president Bruce Lester followed by wreath laying. A further service will commence in the nearby Foster War Memorial Arts Centre following the conclusion of proceedings at the cenotaph. The second service is more formal and features musical items and guest speaker Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) David Lassam. There will be a medallion presentation to a local.

Inverloch
Inverloch RSL Sub-branch invites you to commemorate Anzac Day. A Dawn Service 6am at the RSL Hall Bolding Place Inverloch. Join the team after the service for a Gunfire Breakfast supplied the Inverloch RSL Members. The Veteran’s March will commence at 10.45am from the Cenotaph returning there for the Commemoration Service and Wreath Laying Ceremony. RSL Hall, Bolding Place, Inverloch.

Korumburra
The Dawn service commences at 5.45am at the cenotaph in Coleman Park, with member for Eastern Victoria Melina Bath the guest speaker, and a catafalque party from HMAS Cerberus.  The 2nd Korumburra Scouts will provide egg and bacon sandwiches following the service. Morning service starts at 10.15am, with South Gippsland Concert Band playing and a member of the Korumburra RSL speaking, followed by light refreshments at the RSL rooms.

Leongatha
Dawn Service – A 5.45am service at the Leongatha cenotaph will be followed by a gunfire breakfast at the RSL rooms. Morning service – A 10.45am service outside the Leongatha Memorial Hall will be immediately followed by one inside, with guest speaker Melina Bath and musical items from the South Gippsland Shire Brass Band and the South Gippsland Singers. People are then welcome to attend the RSL rooms for refreshments.

Loch
There will be an 11am service at the Old Post Office/cenotaph.

Mirboo North 
Mirboo North RSL Sub Branch will be holding a Dawn Service at 5.45am in Baromi Park. This will be a reflection type service followed by a light breakfast back at the RSL Hall. Another service is being held at 10.30am at the Secondary College in the auditorium, followed by refreshments at the RSL.

Meeniyan
Assemble at 9.15am at the Meeniyan cenotaph for a 9.30am march. An HMAS Cerberus marching contingent will take part, with the guest speaker being Flying Officer Tristan Garcia. Students from Meeniyan Primary School will speak about locals who have served. Contact Tarnya Wilson for enquiries on 0427 647 473.

Mount Eccles
There will be a 2pm service at Mount Eccles Hall.

San Remo
San Remo’s Anzac Day commemoration will begin at 10.45am at the Cenotaph on the foreshore opposite IGA. Two students representing Bass Coast College and Newhaven College will be the guest speakers. There will be a chance to lay flowers or a wreath and poppies will be available for those wishing to place one on the Cenotaph. After the commemoration, refreshments will be served at the Westernport Hotel. The event is organised by a small community group under the auspices of the Vietnam Veterans Museum Sub Branch.

Tarwin Lower/Venus Bay
A service will be held at 12pm at the cenotaph in Tarwin Lower. A march will take place along the main street. The school captains from Tarwin Lower Primary School have been invited to give a speech and the community is invited to lay a wreath. The Wonthaggi Citizen’s Band will also play at the service. 

Toora
Dawn service – The service commences at 6am at the cenotaph. Morning service – The morning service at the cenotaph begins at 11am.

Yarram
The Yarram RSL Sub Branch will host a parade starting at 10.50am, with muster at the corner of King Street and Commercial Road, with step off at 11am.  The march will head to the cenotaph in Commercial Road, where a Commemorative Service will take place with wreath laying.

Wonthaggi
Anzac Day Dawn Service will be held at 5.55am at the Wonthaggi Cenotaph. The march will leave from the RSL to the Cenotaph at McBride Street Wonthaggi, for the main Anzac Service at 10am. Veterans and Service Personnel are asked to gather in front of the RSL, 60 Graham Street at 9.45am. 

A number of shop windows and business premises across the region have gone with the Anzac theme to promote the day including the CWA in Cowes.
