Lobsters galore in Kilcunda

1 min read

THOUSANDS of locals and visitors attended the Kilcunda Lobster Festival which saw all their lobsters sell out.

The event was held on January 26 and featured food trucks, live music, the famous lobster spinning wheel as well as a skate park competition.

And, with the Bass Highway now upgraded along Kilcunda, accessing the festival was made much safer and easier for traffic management.

Kilcunda Community Association president Marcel van den Bronk was overjoyed with the festival’s success.

“It’s been great to get involved with the community, the census says the population of Kilcunda is only 300 but we’d have over 100 volunteers here today,” he said.

“Some put in a lot of hours and everybody pulls together.”

Marcel noted organising this year’s event had come together seamlessly, with lots of support from various businesses and organisations.

“It’s also a fundraiser for the community association; all the sales go back into the community so we use that to maintain the hall or run other activities throughout the year.”
