The Rail Trail Activation Project is one of 27 projects to be funded under the Victorian Government’s Council Support Package.

The Project will include the following elements:

• Public artwork at the South Gippsland Highway underpass at the Black Spur (Koonwarra) section of the Trail.

• Development and installation of interpretive signage at the Black Spur (Koonwarra) section of the Trail.

• Development and facilitation of a Trail brochure including interactive passport, stamps and map.

• A public event to promote and celebrate the Trail.

All projects are expected to be completed by June 30, 2026, aiming to deliver lasting benefits for residents and visitors, encouraging active living throughout the region.

The funding announcement was made by the Minister for Regional Development, Gayle Tierney, who emphasised the importance of investing in regional Victoria to increase economic activity and give people more reasons to visit and stay in our regional areas.
