Observant passerby limits fire damage at San Remo shop

1 min read

A MINOR electrical fire in a shop on Marine Parade at San Remo last night, Tuesday, March 4, might have been worse but for the intervention of a passerby.

Police have reported that a member of the public, walking past the building shortly after 9pm, has seen smoke issuing from the building and called triple zero.

“In the end there’s only been minor damage to one room in the building,” said a police spokesperson.

“It was an electrical fire, nothing suspicious, confined to a small area.”

A San Remo Fire Brigade spokesman ruled out battery recharges as being involved.

Several fire brigade units from San Remo, Phillip Island and Wonthaggi responded to the “structure fire at the Pilates studio at 107 Marine Parade”, police also attended.
