A Tribute to Neville Goodwin OAM

1 min read

I HAD the privilege of meeting Neville Goodwin when I first joined Rotary in Wonthaggi in 2019. Even then, as his health was ailing, Neville’s spirit and dedication to the community shone brightly. It is with a heavy heart that I share the news of his recent passing on the morning of Tuesday February 18.

Before our paths crossed, I knew of Neville through the stories and praises of those who had worked alongside him. He was described as a pillar of the community, a man who always put others first.

His commitment to service above self and his integrity made him a person who could be relied upon—a man of his word and a man of action.

Neville’s influence extended far beyond the immediate circles in which he operated. He mentored many, including myself, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the fortune of knowing him. His legacy is not just in the tangible achievements and contributions he made, but in the spirit of service and dedication he instilled in others. There are many like me who carry forward the lessons and values

Neville imparted, serving as a living testament to his mentorship and impact.

Though he is no longer with us, Neville’s spirit continues to live on within us. His legacy of community service, leadership, and compassion will forever be remembered and cherished.

Rest in peace, Neville Goodwin OAM. You will be greatly missed but never forgotten.

Nicky Chung, Immediate Past President, Rotary Club of Wonthaggi.
