THE Victorian State Netball Squads have been announced and three South Gippsland players have won through an exhaustive process, involving the top 100 netballers in the State in the 17/U and 19/U age groups to be named in the squad.
They’ll join several other Gippslanders as this region continues to punch above its weight at high levels in the sport.
Gemma Meadley of the Casey Demons, also from the Leongatha Football Netball Club, Amy Scott of the Hawks Netball also Inverloch-Kongwak and Tyla Peters of the Moe & District NA Inc, also with associations to the Leongatha and Mirboo North clubs, have both been named in the 17 and Under squad.
They’ll join the likes of Zali Wheatley (MU Lightning U19s) Maffra, Miley Schade (West Gippsland FNC) Cora Lynn U17s, Lara Noblett (Moe & District NA Inc) Boolarra U17s, Grace Van Tilburg (Casey Demons) Traralgon U19s and Charlize Traumanis (Gippsland Stars) Drouin Hawks.
They’ve been identified by Netball Victoria state team selectors, in preparation for the 2025 National Netball Championships.
The squads will undertake trials over coming weeks, with the athletes narrowed down to teams of 12 that will compete at the National Netball Championships next year.
The Victorian state teams will be announced on Monday December 16.
Earlier this month, Adrian Ballantyne and Jacinta Todd were announced as 19/U and 17/U Victorian state team coaches, with Belinda Lees (19/U) and Sarah Mylrea (17/U) as their assistants.
