What a difference a week makes – Leongatha Under 13s through

1 min read

The day started on a sunny netballl court at Leongatha with the home side facing Maffra in the Under 13 Second Semi-final.

There was a light breeze blowing and plenty of spectators at an already packed Parrot Park, the main oval lush and green ready for a big day of finals.

The Leongatha Under 13s got out to a small lead by half time but played methodical netball to get the margin out to 17-11 before Maffra settled and started to trim the lead back.

Leongatha’s goalers, GA Ashlee Spark and GS Gemma Rump. were making the most of their shots, and rebounding well as required.

Both teams forced a few turnovers in the midcourt and Leongatha went to the last break still in control at 20-14.

In a tight last quarter the teams went goal for goal initially with Mikalya Richards GK and Harley Storr GD made good position under the defensive ring to make to tough for the Maffra goalers.

Three nice long bombs from Gemma near the end put the finishing touches on the game.

In the end it was a convincing win for the young Parrots who now go forward to grand final day.

Final scores: Leongatha 32 to Maffra 19.
