1 min read

CONSTRUCTION is set to begin in July at the old Bunnings site on the corner of McKenzie Street and Korumburra Road in Wonthaggi.

The green shed will make way for four new large retail spaces according to MPG Funds Management, the owners of the site with Super Cheap Auto, BCF, Forty Winks and Choice Discount Variety set to move in.

It’s an exciting and significant milestone for MPG with Bass Coast Shire Council also approving a car park expansion that will bring the total number of car spaces to 109. Accessible parking spaces and dedicated bike parking areas will also be included, ensuring convenience and accessibility for all visitors.

Brett Gorman, Managing Director of MPG Funds Management, recently provided an update to the investors of the MPG Hardware Trust regarding the plans.

“We are thrilled to share that we have successfully leased the former Bunnings space,” said Gorman.

“Our leasing partners at Leedwell received a number of offers, and we are pleased to confirm agreements with Super Cheap Auto, BCF, Forty Winks, and Choice Discount Variety. We anticipate that these new tenants will commence trading late 2024 / early 2025.”

Gorman expressed his satisfaction with the tender process, announcing the appointment of Insitu Group to complete the construction works.

The new large format spaces will total approximately 3624 sqm gross lettable area with MPG excited that the expansion will provide more options for retailers and enhance the shopping experience for the community.

Both Super Cheap Auto and BCF are part of the ASX listed Super Retail Group, a highly reputable company with a
market capitalisation of over $3.08 billion.

MPG Funds Management has proudly taken a hands-on approach to managing the entire redevelopment process in-house with this strategic partnership further strengthening the retail offering at the redeveloped site.
