AT THE age of 19, Charlotte (more commonly known as Charli) Ogden of Leongatha has contributed significantly to not just the South Gippsland community, but to the youth of our region.
From 2019 to 2021, Charli represented South Gippsland at the Victorian Youth Congress. In this role, she played a vital part in the co-creation of the Victorian Youth Strategy. The development of this Strategy included community consultation, regular meetings with staff from the Office of Youth and multiple presentations to the Minister for Youth.
In addition to her impressive calibre of work for the Victorian Youth Congress, Charli has also completed training and advocacy work with the Youth Climate Coalition. Her passion for the environment, especially ecosystem regeneration, has driven her to continue learning as she studies a Diploma of Conservation and Ecosystem Management.
Much of Charli’s spare time is spent volunteering at 1st Inverloch Scout Group where she is now a Rover and qualified to be a scout leader. Here she shares her enthusiasm as part of the leadership team. Her extensive knowledge of native plants comes in handy when partaking in survival courses such as the Victorian Scout Survival, which is the highest-level course for older youth and adult leaders.
Described as a passionate leader, Charli brings skill, knowledge and dedication to every group and project she is a part of. She plays a vital role in significantly enhancing the outcomes for the youth of South Gippsland and the surrounding areas and is a pivotal player in advocating and working towards a greener future.
