BUSHFIRE season is just around the corner and the San Remo Fire Station looks set for a welcome influx of volunteers if this week’s visit by a four-year-old San Remo Kindergarten group is anything to go by.
Under the expert tuition of San Remo Captain Mark Thiele and other team members, the kids each had a ‘lesson’ on how to use the fire hose, plus there was the obligatory climb to the top of the fire truck and a tour of the fire station.
If not an early recruitment exercise then certainly a familiarisation with the work of our wonderful fire fighting volunteers and a low-key reminder about fire safety.
If you haven’t yet checked your in-house fire alarms or revisited your fire preparedness plan for the summer, now’s a good time to do it after the first flurry of bushfires in the state’s south west and sure to be heading this way some time soon.
