GET into the holiday spirit and join the Wonthaggi Owl CWA for a special one-day-only Christmas stall filled with joy, treats, and handmade treasures. Members will be set up outside of Kmart at the Wonthaggi Plaza on Thursday, November 30 from 9am until 1pm.
There will be cakes, slices, biscuits, and festive treats – freshly baked with love by CWA members, perfect for holiday gatherings or gifting.
The women will be selling handcrafted Christmas decorations – beautifully crocheted and made to bring warmth and magic to your holiday season. Unique crafts – one-of-a-kind, lovingly created items to add charm to your home or surprise someone special.
Branch manager Heidi Vanzet from the CWA Wonthaggi Owl Women said every purchase helps us support local women, youth, and our community. “Your generosity makes a real difference!”
“Come early and stock up on holiday treats and handcrafted gifts – these special goodies won’t last long! Let’s make your Christmas a little sweeter and a lot brighter,” said Heidi.
One day only – don’t miss out on the festive fun!
On top of the planning of the Christmas stall, the women of Wonthaggi Owl CWA are planning to put together 50 back-to-school packs for YES Youth Hub in December/January.
“We’re continuing our work with YES Youth Hub, the library pantry, and Close Knit at the Wonthaggi Library,” Heidi said. “One of our members, Carol, takes the donation trolley to the library pantry multiple times a week.”
The CWA hold regular social catchups and have seen great success with over 20 women signed up for the email list, and regularly attending each gathering.
The catchups are held twice a month, from 12pm to 4pm —one at the Wonthaggi Library on the second Wednesday of the month and the second at the Coal Mine Café on the last Saturday of each month.
These events are open to any woman who are looking to join for a cuppa and a chat, helping to break the social isolation that can come from living in the country.
“The Coal Mine Café provides free cuppas and cake to everyone who attends, and we provide refreshments at the library. We’re committed to ensuring that the cost of living doesn’t become a barrier to making new friends and connections.”
