Millie asks us to dig deep for My Room charity

1 min read

THE Sunday Footy Show will be asking us to dig deep for children's cancer when San Remo girl Millie appears as the face of this year’s My Room Grand Final telethon.

Millie was diagnosed with a soft tissue tumour twelve months ago and has since undergone chemotherapy, two operations and radiation treatment.

Millie and her parents are grateful for the support they received from My Room.

“It’s been a challenge,” said Millie’s mother Paige.

The whole family keen Bombers supporters, Millie and her two brothers were given the chance to run onto the MCG with the Essendon players.

Millie’s favourite Bombers are Peter Wright and Andy McGrath.

“We also ran onto the ground with the GWS Giants,” said older brother Nathaniel.

Paige says her children helped paint the boots of players to raise money for children’s cancer.

“Millie’s diagnosis was very hard, knowing it was a tumour,” said Paige.

“But you end up coping.”

Millie is currently in what doctors describe as the maintenance phase of her journey.

Daily oral chemotherapy at home and weekly visits to the Monash Children's Centre for an infusion of chemotherapy are all part of that journey.

“Millie has a heart of gold,” said Paige.

"One of Millie’s favourite things to do is to make things for the people in her life. It is her number one hobby.

“Millie is super creative and along with crafting she enjoys singing and dancing along to musicals like Matilda and The Greatest Showman.”

Millie also loves spending time with her family and friends.

“I love school,” explained Millie, who also likes everything Disney, bunny rabbits and the family’s two pet dogs Nina and Lottie.

The My Room Grand Final Spectacular will go to air on Thursday, September 26 at 7.30pm, live from the Palms at Crown Melbourne on Channel 9.

Host Eddie McGuire will be joined by News Presenters Alicia Loxley and Clint Stanaway.

“The children have already been introduced to the Footy Show’s Tony Jones, Matthew Lloyd, Nathan Brown and Damian Barrett,” said proud mum Paige.
