Burglars strike two BP stations, target cigarettes in early morning spree

1 min read

EARLY this morning, burglars targeted three petrol stations in South Gippsland stealing cigarettes. The spree began with a ram-raid at the Korumburra petrol station at 2.30am followed swiftly by a similar incident at the Inverloch BP at 3.00am.

Authorities suspect the two burglaries are connected with Crime Investigation Detectives earlier on the scene at Korumburra.

Currently, two offenders are believed to be involved. Police urge anyone with relevant information, including CCTV or dash cam footage, to contact the Bass Coast Crime Investigation Unit at 5671 4100 or Crimestoppers at 1800 333 000.

Inverloch BP opened this morning with fuel accessible only by the out-of-hours machine, but has since fully reopened. Korumburra BP is fully operational for services.

An additional burglary also occurred overnight at Endeavour Petrol Station in Grantville at 12.45am with offenders smashing their way into the premises to steal cigarettes. It's believed this burglary is separate to the BP thefts with a similar vehicle under investigation for burglaries in the Southern Metro Region earlier in the evening.
