Early morning armed robbery at Yarram Plaza Hot Bread

1 min read

POLICE are investigating an armed robbery in Yarram on Friday, 12 July.

Officers have been told an unknown male and female entered a business on James Street about 4.15am.

It is believed both offenders, who were armed with firearms, attempted to steal an ATM and tills but were unsuccessful and fled the scene.

There were three staff members present during the incident, but no one was physically injured.

Online Yarram Plaza Hot Bread has requested customers be kind and patient with staff as they recover.

“They have been through a lot and they have a lot of cleaning to do.

“We would like to personally thank everyone for messages and calls of concern.

“Our staff and the plaza cleaner were held up at gunpoint at 4am this morning. The offenders were after money from the ATM machine and our registers. They tied our staff and the cleaner up and left. They only took two pies, but they have scared our staff for life. Our heartfelt thanks go out to Kerri and Elijah (and the cleaner, sorry we don’t know his name) for everything they have been through.”

The investigation remains ongoing.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam or CCTV footage, are urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or visit crimestoppersvic.com.au.
