1 min read

POLICE are appealing for a witness or passerby who they believe stopped and provided assistance at the scene of a two-car motor vehicle collision this morning at Wattle Bank. It's understood the gentleman did not speak fluent English.

The accident occurred just after 8am at the intersection of Lynnes Road and Inverloch-Kongwak Road, Wattle Bank.

It's understood a 64-year-old male driver from Oakleigh failed to give way at the intersection when turning right and collided with a vehicle travelling southbound along Inverloch-Kongwak Road. Both vehicles left the road, with a 26-year-old driver coming to rest in nearby scrub.

The young male driver from Wattle Bank of the other vehicle was taken to Wonthaggi Hospital with minor injuries.

The 64-year-old driver, who is understood to work in the area, was airlifted to Melbourne as a precaution for internal injuries. It's understood he did not display external injuries.

Investigations are continuing with witnesses urged to contact Inverloch Police Station on 5674 1202 or Crimestoppers 1800 333 000 with information.

It's the second accident at the intersection this year.
