SOUTH Gippsland Highway, Korumburra, is currently closed to traffic between Whitelaw Road and Korumburra-Warragul Road as heavy haulage works to upright a trailer following a truck rollover around 12pm.
Initial reports state a vehicle was travelling towards the truck on the wrong side of the road. The truck then proceeded to swerve to avoid a collision with the vehicle and lost traction to the rear trailer which has subsequently tipped. The truck remained upright.
It is estimated 14 tonnes of fertiliser is currently covering the South Gippsland Highway with police estimating the cleanup will take a couple of hours with the highway closed until at least 4pm, potentially 5pm.
Local CFA, police and ambulance attended the scene with no injuries reported by the driver.
Motorists should follow the direction of emergency services and traffic management, and detour using Korumburra-Warragul Road, Drouin-Korumburra Road and Lang Lang-Poowong Road.
The closure is under the control of emergency services. The South Gippsland Highway will re-open when investigations are complete, and it is safe to do so.
