Local hockey champs bring home medals

1 min read

RHONDA and Braden Betley of About Bass Coast Hearing enjoyed 10 fantastic days of hockey at the Pan Pacific Games on the Gold Coast.

The tournament was played in very warm conditions and great spirit.

Braden, playing for Nightsticks – a team made up mostly of police, fire and ambulance workers – played five games for four wins and a draw.

In a really tough grand final, the Nightsticks unfortunately ran out of legs and fit players.

The result was two to one loss and a silver medal.

Rhonda, playing for Albury Border Masters, played and won all six games in six days.

In hot weather, the team fought hard to win four to one in the grand final and win the gold medal.

The magnificent team effort to play seven games in seven consecutive days for seven wins is a record that may never be broken.
