THE inaugural Inverloch Running Festival was hailed as an overwhelming success with more than 1000 participants.
Held at The Glade over the weekend, the running festival was the first of its kind encouraging everyone from families to avid runners to partake.
The run featured a 14-kilometre, five-kilometre, two-kilometre, half-marathon and marathon with live music, food trucks and stalls all helping make the event a success.
Organiser Andrew Haug said they had more than 1400 runners registered.
“We wanted to bring something like this event to the community and run it over two days. It’s really not about the run it’s about bringing the family and community to the region,” he said.
“We’ve got the two-k dash for the kids, the five-kilometre run, but then a lot of people just come down and immerse themselves in all the community activities.”
Mr Haug thanked supporters such as Bass Coast Shire and Destination Gippsland and couldn’t be more excited for next year’s event.
“We’ve got a three-year contract with council and are looking forward to growing that each and every year,” he said.
