Top turnout at Coronet Bay Fun Run

1 min read

NINETY-THREE people took part in the Coronet Bay Fun Run/Walk on Sunday morning.

Participants could choose to run, walk or pram the challenging course, which ran around Coronet Bay’s Fred Gration Reserve, through the quiet streets and along the foreshore for three or five kilometres.

The top placegetters were rewarded with a medallion at the end of the run.

The event was founded by Laurie Black in 1997.

It has since been taken over by Ian Cole, who coordinated his ninth event on Sunday.

The funds raised go back into supporting the community and some of its great events throughout the year.

The Coronet Bay Community Association was thrilled with the turnout.

“We started to see people come in big numbers. We had great weather this year – it was fine and cool, not as hot as it was forecasted,” association liaison officer Kevin Brown said.

“This is our third event since we had to skip a couple of years during the pandemic, and we hope to see it continue.”

Around 20 volunteers put their hands up to help make the day a success.

Runners were treated to food and refreshments at the Coronet Bay Community Hall once they had completed the course.
