FOUR Gippsland Southern Health Service staff members have been rewarded for their leadership and focus on safety and values.
The annual staff awards were presented during the GSHS annual general meeting on November 28, recognising staff who had made a positive impact during the year.
CEO Lou Sparkes said the awards were an important way of encouraging excellence and innovation in the health service.
“We acknowledge all our highly skilled staff for their commitment and professionalism and at the same time like to highlight the special contributions made by some people that make a big difference in the services offered by GSHS,” Ms Sparkes said.
The Emerging Leader Award was presented to Individual support coordinator team leader Lisa Matser for her compassionate leadership and tireless efforts to support staff and consumers
The award recognises and celebrates an employee who has demonstrated significant leadership potential, taking initiative in their roles, and showing a commitment to driving positive change.
The Staff, Safety and Quality Award recognises the demonstration of innovation, leadership and self-directed safety initiatives leading to tangible improvements.
It was awarded to acting maternity unit nurse unit manager Dayna Leatham for her exceptional leadership in maternity care and her commitment to delivering best practices in patient safety.
The Values Champion awards for 2024 recognises one clinical and one non-clinical employee who consistently demonstrated the organisation’s values and made an impact on a positive culture.
Acting nurse unit manager of the multi-function ward Lisa Shannon was recognised for her exceptional dedication to clinical care, and hotel services cleaner Cameron Clapton for ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for staff and consumers.
The awards are nominated by the senior leadership team each week with a final nominee selected each quarter by the executive team.
