WHY is it that within our Bass Coast community there is not a single ‘civic leader’ who is willing to seek out the truth behind the stolen Mayoral items?
Could it be the rarefied company of being a publicly elected representative of the community?
Mayors, Deputy Mayors, councillors past and present. Not one of them it seems is willing to pursue the matter.
And now our own Jordan Crugnale, the State Member for Bass no less, also refuses to assist in getting to the bottom of the theft.
I wrote to Ms Crugnale asking her to call for Bass Coast Shire Council to provide a fully detailed report and request to Victoria Police to commence a criminal investigation into the theft.
In response to my letter Jordan claims it would be inappropriate for her to push for council to make a proper report to police.
And she cites council’s 2024 claim that police had insufficient evidence to investigate. But she overlooks the fact that Council offered no evidence to allow a police investigation. No description. No estimated values.
And the big unanswered question for Ms Crugnale is why she failed to report the matter to police, the insurers, and the community when she was on Council.
