TUESDAY’S budget saw $250m for the upgrade of Mona Vale Road in Sydney’s federal electorate of Mackeller, a project on which independent MP Sophie Scamps has been advocating for since elected three years ago.
This is not a promise contingent on either party winning – it is a Federal Budget Commitment.
This demonstrates three things:
1. Independents can get things done.
2. There is significant federal funding available for roads.
3. Monash continues to be ignored by the major parties.
If elected, securing federal funding to fix our roads, including building a freight bypass around Leongatha, is one of my key priorities.
And I’m confident I will get it done.
