SOUTH Gippsland Shire Council has announced 11 arts projects awarded funding, having received 30 project proposals after calling for individuals, businesses, and community groups across the shire to present creative projects with the aim of boosting South Gippsland’s vibrant arts scene.

Nine of the selected projects will each get $1,000 to assist their development, while the remaining two projects will receive $500 each.

“I’m excited to see the ongoing implementation of council’s Arts Culture and Creative Industries Strategy and witness the spark of creativity across South Gippsland,” mayor Clare Williams said.

These projects embody the heart and soul of our community and showcase the extraordinary talent that defines us; congratulations to the artists, and I’m looking forward to seeing a more enriched South Gippsland.”

A council spokesperson said project proposals were carefully reviewed by members of the South Gippsland Arts Advisory Committee and council’s Arts Development Officer.

The review process included assessing the quality of the proposal, the capacity for project or artist development, and the clarity of the application in terms of how the financial support would benefit the applicant or community.
