Koonwarra's Janie Robinson is appealing for people to keep an eye out for missing Maremma dog Rufus who disappeared approximately 4.30am on Wednesday December 4.
He is normally a guardian for goats, cattle and chooks and is also protective of family kelpie Koda.
When the neighbouring dairy farmer collects his cows to milk, Koda often follows, Rufus going along to protect her.
On Wednesday, Koda returned without Rufus.
Determined searching has been taking place on Janie’s almost 100-acre property and on the dairy farm.
While Rufus hasn’t been known to wander elsewhere, Janie issued a call through the Leongatha Community Noticeboard Facebook page for people to look out for Rufus.
As of Friday afternoon (December 6), he is yet to be found, the emotion clear in Janie’s voice.
“We’ve searched high and low; we just can’t find him,” she said of much-loved seven-year-old dog.
Rufus is very friendly and microchipped.
Anyone who finds him is urged to call Janie on 0400 556 186.
