Try fishing at Venus Bay

1 min read

Venus Bay Angling Club (VBAC) is keen to get more people hooked on fishing, holding an open day this Saturday October 28.

No experience is needed, with enthusiasm the only thing attendees are encouraged to bring.

Those new to the sport will receive guidance on what bait to use, how to set up a fishing rod, and casting technique.

“We will give you tips on reading the local tides to optimise your fishing success, and suggest good spots to throw in a line whether you are land based or have a boat,” VBAC member Roslyn Shelley said.

The club is always ready to welcome new members, who quickly become part of its fishing community.

VBAC’s philosophy is that fishing isn’t just about the catch but also laughter, friendship and creating happy memories.

“If you’re not sure yet if fishing is for you, come along and have a chat and join in the sausage sizzle; bring the kids and make it a family event,” Roslyn said.

The open day runs from noon until 4pm at Gerald’s Shed on Fishermans Road.
