No such luck, you will be caught

A SMALL rescue mission last Monday quickly turned into an arrest, with a 48-year-old woman charged with three counts of Handle Stolen Goods, two counts of Unlicenced Driving, two counts of Theft, one count of Possess Identification Documents, one count of Use Unregistered Motor Vehicle and two counts of Use Vehicle with Incorrect Registration Plate.

On March 2, at an unknown time, a 48-year-old female wearing waders entered the water at Foster Beach to go fishing for garfish. Located approximately 200 metres off the shore, the female became stuck in the mud.

Unable to move the female yelled out for help as the tide started to rise.

After yelling for approximately an hour she lost her voice.

Around 1.55am on March 3, a male from Western Australia and a male from New South Wales drove down to Foster Beach to gaze at the stars.

The two-stargazers heard weird noises and thought it was animals fighting or mating.

After 20 minutes of being interrupted by the noise ruining their star-gazing experience, they investigated, at which time they realised it was the female.

The male from New South Wales entered the water and pulled the cold, but thankful female to shore.

Paramedics and police attended the scene; however, the female did not need to be taken to hospital.

The female was arrested and interviewed after it was discovered she was unlicenced to drive, the car she was driving was unregistered and had stolen registration plates (from another vehicle) on the front, and a cancelled registration plate (from another vehicle) on the rear. She also did not possess a fishing licence.

The female of no fixed address was bailed to appear at the Korumburra Magistrates Court in August 2025.

The vehicle was impounded for 30 days at a cost of $1275.
