A successful day at the local Inverloch market for INVY Fishing

1 min read

PARTICIPATING in Saturday’s market at Inverloch proved a success for the Inverloch Fishing Club (INVY Fishing), and provided an opportunity to use its new marquee that was funded by a grant from the Bass Coast Shire Council’s Community Grants program.

INVY Fishing is a young club, formed in July 2023 with the express purpose of creating a fishing club that is fully inclusive, provides a safe and welcoming environment and engages with all the community.

At the market, there was plenty of interest from prospective new members who were keen to learn about the new club, and from visitors wanting to know about the local fishing scene.

The market was well-organised by the Rotary Club of Inverloch on what proved to be a bright and sunny day that brought plenty of visitors and locals into town.

The ‘Very Fishy Quiz’ was the highlight of the day for INVY Fishing, with a quality Rod/Reel combo generously provided by ‘Inverloch Fishing and Outdoors’, winner and local resident Shane Cross saying the success had “made my day”.

This was music to the ears of the club members who had got up early that morning to set up the marquee, then happily answered people’s questions.

Club secretary John Turner is looking forward to more people having the opportunity to fish next year through a new initiative.

“2025 will be an exciting time for the club as INVY Fishing is working to establish an ‘All Abilities’ recreational fishing program in Inverloch for South Gippsland,” he said, encouraging anyone interested in participating or helping as a volunteer to get in touch.

The club meets on the third Sunday of each month at the Warrawee Club in Inverloch.
