KNEEBOARD Surfing Victoria (KSV) have sent a strong team to South Africa this month to compete in the Kneeboard Surfing World Titles to be held at the iconic Jeffreys Bay from August 19 – 24, 2024.

The team includes past champions of the Neil Luke Classic Kneeboard Event and father-son duo Peter Fairweather (Father) and Owen Fairweather (Son) both from St. Andrews Beach as well as Bruce Sherlock (Kilcunda), Paul Wright (Kilcunda), Paul O’Neill (Fish Creek), Rod Paarlberg (Yarram), Paul Mannix (Phillip Island), and James Anderson (Hamers Haven).

KSV President Rod Paarlberg said he is confident the team can deliver on the world stage and get some big results. “We were really looking forward to travelling over here as a team and hopefully getting one of the best waves in the world on tap for the contest.”

“There will be over 120 of the World’s best ‘Kneelos’ gathering from 11 countries for what will be a great showcase of kneeboard surfing.”

Bruce Sherlock of Kilcunda shared that six out of the nine kneeboarders from Victoria - competing for Australia live in South Gippsland and Bass Coast. “Any of these six have a great chance to bring home some silverware.”

“Jeffrey’s Bay is well known as one of the best waves in the world and the boys have already been warming up in some magnificent surf up to three metres high,” said Bruce.

Last Saturday all the competitors came together in their country’s uniform for a ‘Parade of Nations’.

The Kneeboard Surfing World Titles are held every two years at different locations around the world including Portugal, New Zealand and Australia. The event will be livestreamed on YouTube and Live Heats will have score updates in real time.
