THE Corinella Boating and Angling Club will have a place to call home if a $550,000 promise by the Liberals and Nationals comes to fruition.
But, they’ve got to win the election first, unless the Labor Party agrees to match the offer.
The club has been active in the Corinella community for 42 years, with members locally and from around the state, however the club has no permanent base for members to meet, with members securing a site to build but needing funding to complete the puzzle.
Shadow Minister for Fishing and Boating, Bill Tilley, said this week it was time the club had a permanent location.
“The Corinella Boating and Angling Club has been a part of the community for more than four decades, and it is time the club had a home base,” Mr Tilley said
“This is a way the Liberals and Nationals are encouraging more people to take part in fishing and boating.”
Liberal Candidate for Bass, Aaron Brown, said the clubhouse will benefit the wider community.
“The club is a vital part of the community with more than 70 members, and will get a lot of use over the summer months,” Mr Brown said.
“After meeting with the group it’s clear they have the full support of the Corinella community, this commitment means the club will be able to start works sooner rather than later.”
The Nationals Candidate for Bass, Brett Tessari said it has been a concerted effort by the community.
“The club volunteers have done all the leg work here to make this plan a reality, and this building will be an amazing asset to the township but also the whole waterline community,” Mr Tessari said.
“I’ve had the opportunity to meet with the group and they always put forward a compelling case – it’s another example of the Corinella community coming together for a fantastic cause.”
