The exciting combination of Christmas trees and fire trucks is drawing families to Leongatha Fire Station this weekend as Ruby Fire Brigade holds its major annual fundraiser, selling affordable festive trees.
“It’s going towards our new truck which is arriving soon,” Ken Williamson of Ruby Fire Brigade said.
While the brigade’s Christmas tree sales have been raising money towards that cause over the last few years, the truck is expected to be delivered within a couple of months.
The Victorian Government’s Volunteer Emergency Services Equipment Program has helped fund the truck, with the brigade having to raise the rest.
Jeremy and daughter Amaira were pleased to find the right tree, Jeremy saying buying from the Ruby Fire Brigade is the start of a tradition and supports a good cause.
The brigade purchases its trees through a supportive Christmas tree farm, normally selling them during the first weekend of December, this time choosing the month’s first full weekend.
The trees are available until 4pm both days unless sold out, with Sunday sales scheduled to begin at 8.30am.
