Western Port Ward Councillor Bruce Kent today notified Council that he would be resigning his position after almost seven years in the role.
Cr Kent has recently returned to full-time work and he said he regretfully found it difficult to commit as much time to Council as the role and the community deserved.
Bass Coast Shire Council Mayor Cr Michael Whelan thanked Cr Kent for his hard work and dedication to the Bass Coast community.
“I know this has been a challenging decision for Bruce and on behalf of the Council I wish him the best with his future work,’’ Cr Whelan said.
“Bruce can be extremely proud of the contribution he has made to helping Bass Coast become such a vibrant region to live, work and visit.’’
Council has officially notified the Victorian Electoral Commission and the Minister for Local Government of Cr Kent’s resignation.
Council must now wait to be officially notified by the VEC whether a countback or by-election is required to fill the vacancy.
