THE message to Mirboo North water users has changed – you can now do all the normal things you would do with water, drinking, having a shower, washing clothes etc after the storages reached a good level or replenishment overnight.
Managing director of Gippsland Water Sarah Cumming spoke to ABC Gippsland this morning, Thursday and confirmed that the water setting at Mirboo North had moved from drink only to “conserve water”.
“The storages at Mirboo North are replenishing and we are in a lot better position than we were,” said Ms Cumming.
“The extent of the storm damage is quite in credible. For our crews just getting to breaks was difficult without power.
“We need to conserve water use, but it’s not just drinking only.
“I would expect in the next few days (return to full storage levels) but with trees damaged, we could see more breaks.
“Water is safe for drinking.
“It is improving every couple of hours,” Ms Cumming said of the storage levels at Mirboo North.
