FORMER picnic horse of the year and crowd favourite Shahin was cheered home by a record crowd of over two thousand at the Woolamai Racecourse to win the 2025 Alex Scott & Staff Woolamai Cup.
A cup first for jockey Leigh Taylor and trainer David Noonan the popular Shahin also won best presented strapper and horse for the third year running, before taking out the cup
Life-membership was presented to Florence Elaine Robinson (nee Harrison) daughter of Tom Harrison a legendary part of the Woolamai Race Club in the 1930’s.
Elaine started as a jockey at Woolamai aged 13 following in the footsteps of her sister Betty.
Betty and Elaine's father Tom Harrison Snr and brother Tom Harrison Jnr were both integral to Woolamai’s racing history.
Elaine and her family still attend every race meeting at Woolamai and are proud to be part of the Harrison racing dynasty carried on by jockeys Jade Darose and Craig Williams.
The crowd was kept well entertained by The Times and Imogen Price, and fashions on field was a huge hit coordinated by It's All About the Sash.
Dalyston Football Club ran two bars, Tipsy Pony served celebratory cocktails, and the Kilcunda Bass Cricket Club and Archie’s Creek provided the catering.
