GIPPSLAND Power had a slugfest against Eastern Rangers last Sunday, at Morwell, in the last game of the home and away season, and emerged with a one-goal win after being headed by Rangers in the last quarter.
And all of the South Gippsland and Bass Coast players in the team played their part in the team's success.
Foster's Zane Duursma played the complete game for Gippsland Power, not only kicking four goals in a close-fought contest but also taking a turn on the ball when not up forward.
It was here that he took several contested marks before kicking a number of crucial goals.
Inverloch-Kongwak's Archer Reid constantly brought team mates into the play with slick handpassing and creative play on the ball.
Leongatha's Will Dawson provided a good contest against the Eastern Rangers tall forwards.
And the other locals including Xavier Lindsay (1 goal), Max Donohue, Jobe Scapin, Harry Scott and Willem Duursma all had their moments as well in a tight contest with the pressure on every possession.
Gippsland Power joins the rest of the teams in the Coates Talent League in a knockout round of Wild Card finals this weekend, up against its neighbours Dandenong Stingrays, in an 8th versus 9th contest to stay alive in season 2023. Gippy Power finished 8th, after winning seven games from 13 matches played but a young side with plenty of emerging talent, starting to gel together as a team just as the pointy end of the season arrives.
They play their knockout final at the Latrobe University Oval in Bundoora at 11.30am this Sunday, September 3.
