What new skills do you want to learn this year?

1 min read

WHAT new discoveries have you made this year? For over 25 years, Bass Coast Adult Learning (BCAL) has been the initial stepping stone for many. Whether it’s gaining industry-specific qualifications, support with basic English and Maths, exploring music, or mindfulness, the supportive team at BCAL is ready to assist you in taking that first step.

BCAL also offers short courses covering a range of skills. These courses include hospitality skills such as Safe Food Handling, Responsible Service of Alcohol, and Barista Skills. Moreover, courses like White Card and Traffic Management are available for those interested in careers in building and construction. First Aid courses are also highly sought after.

In Term Two, the Certificate III in Information Technology will kick off, covering various subjects such as coding, cloud computing basics, digital media skills, cyber awareness, and IT support services.

Students will gain essential knowledge in critical thinking and customer support skills, preparing them for roles in the IT support field.

For hands-on learners, the Certificate III in Horticulture is an excellent option and it’s a nationally recognised qualification. This program teaches students about managing plant pests, diseases, and disorders, developing a plant establishment plan, implementing environmentally sustainable practices, and carrying out specialised amenity pruning. Practical training is provided in the BCAL training garden, along with industry work experience.

For those looking to work as a support worker in the disability care sector, a six-week course starting in May will provide comprehensive support, fundamental knowledge of the disability sector, and insights into establishing and managing a personal business.
